Save Pioneer Skate Park

Pioneer skate park is one of the longest running indoor skate parks in the UK and has played host to some amazing skate tours, demos and competitions – not least the annual Girls Skate Jam which kicked off for the 9th time this Summer with girls from all over the world.

However as you may or may not have heard the skate park has been issued a draft closing order which – with the final order to take effect on 23rd of April 2011. Herts County Council have said that Youth Connexions will take over the building and from what we can gather have no plans to keep the skate park as it does not fall into the age remit of 13-19.

The park is recieving a lot of support and a BBC camera crew is set to come down next Monday and we need as many people as possible to come down and show their support for the centre – even if you don’t skate but have some affiliation with it! For all the latest, check out the Facebook Page.
