Here at SkaterGirl we love to point the spotlight on the young up-and-coming skaters who will likely one day be bossing the skate circuit and this month that crown goes to Poppy Starr Olsen. At just 10 years old, this Sydney-based girl skates mostly vert and bowl and has been doing do so for about 2.5 years now. Her local spot is Bondi Beach skate park which has a great bowl and she also trains at Monster skate park which has a good 14.5 foot vert ramp.
She has won many local competitions including her first vert comp last week organised by Renton Miller. She is also the only girl joining a group of Australian vert groms going on a tour/skate camp session in the US in July for 23 days. It will include a couple of weeks at Woodward East and West, a five day tour of the LA skate parks sponsored by Rockstar, and will have a couple days at Tony Hawk’s hosue in San Diego. Exciting times for this young skater and she is in the progress of launching her own website – as always, one to watch for the future.
