Young Rippers: Gaby Ponce

“Sk8Grl” team rider Gaby Ponce graced the cover of ‘ESPN’S RISE’ Magazine.

At 15 years old, Gaby turned a lot of heads at her first X Games where she placed 5th and everybody is taking notice! Her sponsors include Sk8Grl apparel, Drop In skatepark, and Timeline skateboards.

Gaby Ponce was also a featured athlete in ‘The Record SPORTS’ Magazine that celebrates North Jersey Youth Athletics. Most athletes had a one page interview yet Gaby had four pages which shows the popularity of skateboarding and the fact that it is not just a male sport anymore.

Gaby began skateboarding in typical fashion, her parents bought a skateboard for her as a christmas present 5 years ago. Soon after, she could be found ripping her local mini ramp and street course at Drop In skatepark in New Jersey.
She loved the speed, air and progressing of the sport and soon discovered it was her calling to skate vert. Vert skating in New Jersey however is a little difficult as there are no vert ramps in northern NJ. Despite this Gaby has shown a true passion and desire.

Her parents agreed to take her to Philadelphia at the weekends so that she could skate vert in Woodward skatepark and has progressed to the point where everyone calls her “one of the guys” out on the ramp.

Props!
